FCA - Putting Faith Into Play "A Christian without a church is like an athlete without a team."
Working through personal relationships, FCA and local church staff together can open doors that neither could alone. Since FCA came into existence in 1954, the local church has been a vital teammate.
WHY: It is pleasing to God. "There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all." 1 Corinthians 12:5-7
"But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? 1 Corinthians 12:18-19
It Works Serving together as the body of Christ, local churches with FCA, create a synergy of influence in the community.
HOW: By FCA staff/volunteers and church leaders working together in building relationships with one another.
Every staff person and volunteer of the FCA working with the leaders in their home church can add significant outreach to both the church ministry and the FCA ministry.
Rev. Nelson L. Price, Senior Pastor of Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia states his feeling as a pstor and FCA's Board Chairman: "I am pleased to commend FCA as a non-denomincational organization that is fully supportive of the local church. Not only do FCA's vital documents state this, their staff is trained to do so, and their record confirms it. I recommend FCA to you as worthy of the support of the local church. May our Lord make FCA a blessing to you."
Greg Linville, President of Church Sports and Recreation Ministers, and Director of Recreation at First Friends Church in Canton, Ohio said: FCA is the church - church is the people. The church constantly needs new fishing pools. FCA is a new pool." |
How it benefits the local Church:
1. Access to public schools - involvement with FCA enhances the ability of the church to gain an audience of public high school students.
2. Event Organization - organizing rallies and events for the Kingdom is most sucessful when done in a collaborative effort. FCA can assist in providing resources for the event as well as a neutral ground for all churches involved.
3. New Members - individual church membership is stressed in the Huddle groups. Members without a home church will seek those with whom they are familiar.
4. Speakers - connecting athletes and coaches to church speaking engagements is a way in which FCA can serve the church.
5. Church Member Involvement - sport ministry is a unique opportunity for some church members to utilize their talents and abilities to minister to youth.
6. Added church staff - there are a number of living examples of how a local church can partner with local FCA and together provide resources for a person to enter into ministry on a full time basis, working for the church and for FCA.
7. Resources - sport related resources that are created and produced by FCA are a tool that local churches can use in their ministry.
8. New Fishing Pools - the demographic of those people involved with FCA may be a new source of ministry for your church.
